The FAV is a nonprofit tax-exempt organization
dedicated to helping all veterans from all walks of life.
Our VA hospitals across the country are urgently in need of supplies
and equipment which are not funded by the Federal Government. The
FAV's future goals consist of establishing a veterans homeless shelter
in the Detroit area, maintain our continued support of VA Hospitals,
provide continued assistance for veterans through our World Wide
Web (WWW) Page, provide financial assistance to other veterans causes
such as stand downs and shelters, provide medical and home care
assistance to disabled veterans, and many other vital programs.
Our web page offers a "Where Are You
Now" database which allows vets to enter specific personal
data about themselves and also has a unique search tool which allows
someone to find someone with such things as nicknames, battles,
etc. The "Vets Hiring Vets" program is a complete
job assistance database for veteran business owners looking for
employees as well as veterans looking for employment. These are
only two of the programs and we hope to continue to improve the
page as time goes on.
The following is a list of some of the things
the FAV has accomplished recently:
* Provided financial assistance to provide specialized
television sets to a complete wing of the new VA Hospital located
in the downtown Detroit area. We also provide assistance to other
VA programs and equipment needs of the hospital on a continuing
basis.
* Provided funds to the Ann Arbor VA Hospital
to purchase a pulse oximeter which regulates the amount of oxygen
in a patients blood, vital to respiratory therapy.
* Provided funds to the Iron Mountain VA Hospital
to purchase specialized equipment to help increase circulation in
bed ridden patients, thereby decreasing skin breakdown.
* Provided funds to the Saginaw VA Hospital
to purchase supplies for the patio/nature trail fund, enabling patients
to enjoy the hospital grounds alone or with friends and relatives.
* We are currently assisting the Detroit VA
Hospital in arranging free cable pay-per-view service to the patients.
The amount of financial assistance we are giving them is minimal
to the $30,000 the local cable company wanted to charge them.
As you can see, the FAV has a purpose and a goal and we
need your help. Please view and print a copy of our Contribution
form and pass along our web site address to others. http://www.fav.org/
